Q&A What is the difference between Diploma and Extended Diploma Level 7 Qualifications?
In this fast changing industry, driven by complex environmental and political forces, this Level 7 qualification empowers the student to lead and manage sustainable strategic and cultural change within a large service organisation. Furthermore, the qualification provides the students with the knowledge to design, manage and deliver processes and services, focusing on outcomes, efficiently, effectively and economically. The Level 7 qualification offers the essential skills and knowledge for middle and senior managers in health and social care who wish to excel in their chosen field.

Level 7 Extended Diploma Features

- Choice of delivery - centres are free to use any mode of delivery which meets learners' needs.
The Level 7 (Postgraduate) Extended Diploma in Leadership & Management in the Health & Social Care Sector is Ofqual-regulated through our partnership with ABE. For more information visit the ABP Ofqual Qualifications and Ofqual Register Page.
The extended diploma qualification appears on the Ofqual Register of Regulated Qualifications as the ABE Level 7 Extended Diploma in Leadership and Management in the Health and Social Care Sector (QCF). The qualification number is 600/1949/9.
When UK Centres issue CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) letters to international students, they should ensure that the qualification title they put on the CAS letter is exactly the same as the qualification title on the Ofqual Register of Regulated Qualifications. Also, the student should refer to this qualification when they apply for the student (Tier 4) visa.

ABP does not specify the entry requirements of our qualifications but has confidence in centres to recruit students that have the potential to achieve the standards required of the qualification. We expect all centres to recruit with integrity and consistency to ensure fairness of access & ability to all students.
Centres should take appropriate steps to assess each applicant’s potential and make a professional judgement about their ability to successfully complete the programme of study and achieve the qualification. This assessment will need to take account of the support available to the learner within the centre during their programme of study.
Students do not need to progress sequentially through the levels. Therefore a candidate who has achieved a level 5 qualification may be able to achieve the academic rigour and complexity, required of Level 7 Postgraduate Diplomas accessed through ABP.
ABP does not specify that candidates must have an English Language qualification equivalent to IELTS 6.0-6.5. However many UK universities will require applications for their Masters and MBAs to have achieved an English language qualification at this level prior to commencing the Masters/MBA. Therefore, we would encourage all candidates wishing to progress to a UK university to be working towards an English language qualification equivalent to IELTS 6.0-6.5.
